Humanity On Trial In Bangladesh

August 31 and September 1, are two closest days, when the most courageous Muslim Hero of today's world in Bangladesh, Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury will stand in front of a judge in court to face trial of sedition, treason and blasphemy? What is his 'crime'? He speaks against rise of radical Islam, confronts culture of jihad and killing innocent people in the name of religion, he advocates inter faith understanding and above all, he demands relations between Israel and Bangladesh. For this 'crime', Choudhury should face the trial, which may conclude in several months, resulting in either death penalty or life term imprisonment. What the so-called top players of human rights like Amnesty are doing on this very important case? Maintaining complete silence? Why? Because, Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury is the rarest breed of Moslem with guts, who proclaims to be Moslem Zionist. And, we all know, Amnesty won't stand for a Moslem Zionist, anyway.

Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury's sufferings began in November 29, 2003, when he was arrested at Zia International Airport in Dhaka (capital of Bangladesh) on his way to Tel Aviv for attending a peace conference. Bangladeshi authorities consider any relations with Israel as seditious, as this nation considers Jews and Israel as religious enemies. On every Friday, in most of the Moslem mosques, clergies continue to give sermons saying "Jews and Christians are your enemies, kill them and remain a good Moslem". Such unfortunate trend of hate speech continuing for decades, thus giving provocation to the minds of people in turning into neo Osama Bin Laden, with the one and only objective of killing Jews and Christians and hating the Western world.

Shoaib Choudhury was tortured in prison, denied medical treatment, and when his mother passed away in August 2004, Bangladeshi government did not allow Shoaib to attend his mother's funeral on bail on parole. Such attitude clearly leaves signal to all of us, how crude Bangladeshi authorities are on this very precious treasure of the international community.

Due to intervention by Rep. Mark Steven Kirk, Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury was release on bail in April 30, 2005, after 17 months of horrofying imprisonment. One man, a Jewish activist, Dr. Richard L Benkin, fought almost signle handedly in freeing Shoaib Choudhury from Bangladeshi prison. Dr. Benkin did not bow to the red eyes of Bangladeshi government, nor did he ever stop in his endeavor in setting Shoaib Choudhury free, although when he confronted series of non-cooperation from many, including Senator Barack Hussein Obama, who did not say even a single word against Bangladesh's anti Semitic notion. Obama does not want to help a Moslem Zionist, who defends the state of Israel, because, people like Barack Hussein Obama are the wolf in sheep's skin.

What happens to international press, when the Bangladeshi authorities are on their path of killing the most courageous Moslem of this age? Most of them are silent. In 2004, The New York Times published an editorial (January 24, 2004), in favor of Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury. This was the first ever coverage in any international media about this extremely important case. Later, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Times, The New York Sun, The Australian, The Berliner Zeitung, The Jewish Week, The Jerusalem Post, The Arutz Sheva, The Canada Free Press and many other newspapers and newssites in the world, came up with opionion editorials and news on the battle of one-man army against the Islamist millitancy, in Bangladesh. Voice of America's English service although had a couple of programs on this case, Bangla service of VOA continues visible ban on this issue, as most of the staffs in that section prefers to maintain anti Semitic attitude. But, one newspaper, never gets tired in battling against radical Islam and promoting interfaith understanding, and that is Weekly Blitz www.weeklyblitz.net a newspaper run by Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury for years. Due to its extremely courageous and bold editorial policy against culture of religious hatred and jihad, Blitz does not receive advertisement from the local advertisers, although it has already turned into the most influential newspaper in Bangladesh. Ask many of the top policymakers in the Western world, who might not even know much about Bangladesh, but for sure, they know Weekly Blitz. This is the only newspaper in the Muslim world, which tells the truth to the local and global audience, with un-twisted and un-molested news about Israel, Judaism and Jews. Millitary controlled rulers in Bangladesh also realizes this fact precisely. That is why, they have been attempting to stop the publication of this courageous newspaper, since it was re-published in 2005. Office of Weekly Blitz was bombed in July 2005 by Islamist millitancy group named Khelafat Andolan. There has been no action by the government, despite filling of a formal complaint with the police station. In October 2005, some mob belonging to Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) attacked the office of the newspaper and seriously assaulted the editor of Blitz, Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury. Here again! There was no action by the government. And, very recently in March 2008, members of notorious Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) abducted Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury at gun point, looted the office of the newspaper and humiliated other members of this publication. The government neither did take any action against the culprits in RAB nor did the looted goods were ever returned. Police protection from the residence of Mr. Choudhury was withdrawn by the millitary controlled government, leaving this extremely precious citizen of the world and members of his family into extreme terror. Even state patronized propaganda against Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury continues in a number of local newspaper in the nastiest ever manner.

Despite all such adversities, Choudhury remains undeterred in his mission. He has repeatedly refused asylum proposals in a number of countries in the world. In his words, Choudhury wants to fight against radical Islam rigght in the battle ground and he wishes to see the Islamists defeated one day. But now, the risk is even higher, as the government itself is continuing to do everything in prosecuting this wonderful human being and may be in months, Shoaib Choudhury will become the name of a martyr Moslem Zionist. By trying Mr. Choudhury, Bangladeshi authorities are commiting crime against humanity. If Yugoslavian criminals could be tried for commiting crime against humanity, why not those Islamist rulers in Dhaka?

When Bangladesh is continuing trying Mr. Choudhury as well patronizing radical Islam and are openly opposing war on terror, is there any reason for the global community to patronize this nation by buying their readymade garment and other products? Dr. Richard Benkin first made public appeal for boycotting Bangladeshi goods. In his website named www.interfaithstrength.com, such appeal was made several months back. Lately a website titled www.boycottbangladesh.org is making much louder appeal to Western buyers to refrain from buying products Made in Bangladesh. But, according to various scoops, Dr. Benkin has already stepped back from his position of continuing the demand for boycott, although his web site is continuing to show the boycott appeal. In the interfaithstrength.com site, there is a dramatic silence on what is lately happening with Mr. Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury. Abduction by RAB, withdrawal of police protection or beginning of the trial. Dr. Benkin's site is gradually becoming low profile in speaking in favor of Mr. Choudhury. Why? Any untold mystery behind?

Trial of Mr. Salah Uddin Shoaib started ignoring a resolution in United States Congress (HR 64), Australian Senate and European Parliament. Eminet lawyer and human rights defender Professor Irwin Cotler has already termed the case against Mr. Choudhury as illegal. It is high time for international community to raise their voice in support of Mr. Choudhury. International media also needs to take up this case with due urgency.
